A Game of Strategy is a strategic wargame for two players. The computer will take one side, and you the other. It is based on the rather well-known STRATEGO boardgame. Each player is given 40 pieces. The first step is to set up the pieces in a strategic order. Neither of the players (You and the computer) can see the opponents pieces, so you will have to make a really flexible setup, in order to respond to whatever the computer comes up with. Based on the arcade game, Blades Of Steel is a hockey arcade action game (gameplay doesn’t require the need to worry about statistics or provide the ability to customize teams.) Two players can play against each other, or one player against the computer. In one player mode there are single game and tournament mode options. From time to time a fight may break out, which will provide a close up view of the two players. The player has control during the miniature fight game sequence, with the loser having to spend time in the penalty box. The referee will break up fights that go on too long, and calls a few penalties such as icing. Several short clips of digitized voices are also featured.

The Black Orb was inspired by Atari’s Gauntlet, which I was obssessed with as a kid. It is a PC game where you can be a wizard, barbarian, or archer and you descend into a multi-level dungeon to recover the Black Orb. Most of the sprites for the game were created by Chris Daly. Shown above is the red wizard character walking through the first level. Slime, bats, and ghosts are advancing towards the player in order to attack. The pile of bones is a ghost generator and there is a secret door to the bag, chest, and amulet.

Tetris is a simple, yet challenging, game invented by a Russian mathematician. Zart is a variation on the ‘pillbox’ and ‘bombard’ games of yore. Zart requires two players for regular play, or just one player for practice. There is no computer-controlled player during practice. Zart features real time ‘head-to-head’ play. The controls are very simple yet will take even the most seasoned video game player a few minutes to get used to. The left player controls the base through using the ‘A’ key, and the right player controls the base through using the ‘L’ key.

Zentris was inspired by a similar game of falling-blocks, which shall not be mentioned here. Zentris was created because this wondrous concept was to date implemented in a rather poor way, with low-quality graphics or unconventional controls.
